Random crashing

Hey,

My game randomly crashes at various points, sometimes during the battle screen, sometimes during the global screen, sometimes while loading. No pattern, just a heavy CPU load and then it quits out.

Hi,

Can you please tell us:

- What type of machine (brand, type, some hardware specs) you are trying to run the game on?

- Exactly what distro and version of Linux you are running?

- Exactly what version of the game you have (2.3.1?  2.4 dev? Did you compile/build it yourself?)

- If you downloaded a pre-compiled package, where did you get it from?

Looking quickly at some of the lines, I do see a few things that might be a little off, but one of the project coders will really have to give an answer as to where the issue really is.

if you are on linux, please install gdb, run ufo in a gdb session (see wiki debugging) and post a backtrace - without such a backtrace it's almost impossible to help you.

Hey,

I'm on Egypt time (GMT+2) so it is getting late here. I'll try the gdb in the morning and let you know what that comes out with.

For now -

I am running 2.3.1 off Playdeb.

I am on an Asus Aspire 1 netbook, so relatively minimal graphics etc, but I have upped my RAM to 1.5gb.

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 with a gnome shell over the top.

It did run a lot better when I closed all other programs, which might explain it as a pure CPU issue.

I am also having a secondary (albeit minor issue) in that is does not remember my graphics preferences when I start up the program, so I have to change the settings to full screen and my resolution each time. This is probably unrelated but I am not sure why it is happening.
