I can't see the map...during a mission!

Hy there!
My problems are the next:
1. There are some mission, when I enter, than I dont see the map...the soldiers faces, and the buttons are ok, but the ground....that's BLACK! So are there any solutions?
2. I see the game is full of bugs....why don't exists patches for these shits??

of course there are unfixed bugs in this release - this is a release candidate.

please report them with more information (and maybe a backtrace if it's a segfault).

the first error seams to be the bad model bug (see base/ufoconsole.log)

your second statement: we all develop this in our free time - there are no patches because the bugs aren't fixed yet - feel free to contribute.

Yes, there is the obvious one: ESC; "Retry". I can't belive you haven't discovered it yourself.

I have the RC4, and I use Win XP---the bugs not fatal...
But I'm stupid, and I don't understand the system of the hire...Can I buy soldiers, scientists, workers, or I have to wait for them, and after a time I get them?
Oh..there is something more: In the ufopedia I don't see the text, just the name of the file (which includes the text...I think...)
One more: There is a lot of building, I can't build, bec. my money is not enough, but the numbers show, I have enough...so it's interesting...
So the obligartory question: Are There Any Solution?

You can select from the available personnel,
click on the checkmark next to the name to hire/unhire.

New soldiers etc. should become available at the end of each month.

In principle you should get them, but there is a bug that makes soldiers and scientists very rare. It's fixed for RC5, BTW.

Probably you have no language set in your OS. You should have, e.g. en_GB set as your language and you'd see the texts.

You probably don't have other buldings that are needed. But in the initial base you should be albe to build almost anything. If the problems persist, please report with more details.

I have a misson -maybe the 16th?, I don't know- its a very hard one--so after I win, whwn I'm click on the Continue button, the game make an exit to the Windows....all times.....

Trewize, I believe the bug you discovered in your original post is now fixed in the SVN version (although it requires more testing to be 100% sure).

I suspect this bug could still be in SVN... we have some leads and are chasing them up.

Although the bug might be fixed in RC5 I wanted to contribute to the topic by posting my experience.
I also had the above phenomenon. It's not gamma related since all other night missions work just fine, and actually in one of the three cases I experienced so far it would have been a daylight mission.
Still the whole map area is just pitch black.

Also, I dunno if this intentionally but in the Santa Cruz(?) mission in Mexiko all civillians are displayed as either blue or orthnok aliens.

Win32 Version of RC4 without newer SVN files applied.
