Making the change take effect in game?
« on: August 08, 2010, 10:34:50 pm »
Hiya. I'm really new at this modding stuff and this will sound like a really stupid question. But i want to make some little tweaks to some things. I found the ".ufo" files (with the SVN) and made the appropriate changes. But i have no idea how to get them activated in the game :'(. I would highly appreciate it if someone could help me out with a step by step process of how to do it. Thanks. And i apologize if this is in the wrong section of the forum.

EDIT

I think i may have got it. I switched the files in the ".pk3" file. If this will blow up the game in the future or if there is anything I should worry about I would like the warning.

I think files outside the pk3 (see the SVN) can override files from the pk3. And there is also a way to override pk3 with another pk3 (maybe with e prefix number). But i dont really know how this thing work

Ok. Thanks for the info. But swapping the "UFO" files did work.

Sure, there is many way to do the job; but some are cleaner than others.
For example, a mod (and anyway anything else) should not edit game data of the release.
