I have trouble when loading map in battle. I see picture and string of loading grow for 100% and then freezing. It happens in full screen resolution.
To resolve this its need to load game in screen mode then setup full screen mode and exit game (don't loading save game and don't start new campaign this turn). Then starting game again and it will be in full screen mode and you can load save games and starting new compaign without freezing in battle in full screen mode.
P.S. It was my way to resolve that trouble. Hope it will help. Sorry for bad english
