Hello !
I have decided to start a new thread with complete descriptions of tasks where folks could easily become involved in contributing.

This is meant for those who thought before that they lack the skills to help this project out.

So people, if your skills for these tasks here are lacking, I really cannot help you anymore  ;)...

Task 1:

We need new textures for the shop. For that we first need some good selfmade photos. So if you can use a digicam you can help here.
The pictures needed do not have to have a very high resolution, because they will be rescaled to 128x128 or maybe a little bit bigger anyway.
It would be nice if you could cut & rescale the pictures to 256x256. Please take care that the scale of the fruits is okay, so apples & bananas should not be bigger than they are in real-life.

If you want to see where the shop-textures are used simply start UFO:AI->Skirmish Mode->village commercial & look around.

More variations (fruits of all kinds) are welcome. Take your cam & storm the next supermarket ! Here you CAN help !

If I get those pictures, I will volunteer in making nice normalmaps for them & you will have your stuff in-game for 2.3  ;)!

Stop searching pictures in the Internet. You have to make them yourself, this cannot be used because of licensing questions !!!

If you really want to help you have to do stuff yourself. But I am sure you know how to use a cam. & I am also sure now, that you can resize the pictures needed...  ;)

Yes, there's lots of different scales at which you can contribute with maps -- everything from an object, to one tile in an RMA, to full maps. When you start to get a grasp of the editor, be sure to start reading the wiki articles on mapping, to learn about things like the RMA (random map assembly), levels, surface flags, etc.

so stop chatting, and try to do something „real″. it's easy enough..
And, you have one major advantage, as you are teenager, more free time than others, use it with deal.

Even simple terrain, for RMA map tiles, would be nice - new ones that fit the location better.  I'm saying this because I recently had a mission in Antarctica where I had troops advance on a crashed UFO, but not before first going through a convenience store and a barn with a cow inside, all in the middle of nowhere.

For those new to mapping, I'd suggest starting something simple such as a square with a small hill and perhaps a few small items, so that a desert or arctic landscape can use them and have variation without having to have strange structures that don't fit.  Not every single RMA map tile has to be an either perfectly clear flat square or some elaborate structure with occupants.  I think some more tiles with simple, rolling hills or other terrain would be nice, to be placed around occupied structures.

You are very right, but such textures have to be seamless  ;) & I wanted to start a thread here which gives folks WITHOUT skills the opportunity & CONCRETE tasks where they can help, but I am sure, Destructavator, you could find such a task for them also...  ;)
