So maybe me posting the log is helpful after all.

@Thyranim: Dang. So there's a possibility that the game doesn't like series 7 cards. Dang. Thanks for the info. God willing---if I won't transfer digs (again)---I can buy a 96 or 9800 GT (or a GTX 260) sometime in the next 4-5 months.

It can be a problem with shader compilation with your specific driver. In this case the driver will display error into the game log, but you must activate shaders (r_programs cvar). Error message start with "R_LoadShader:".

So I should find this "R_LoadShader:" and then activate the shaders. How?

Thanks for any helpful reply!

EDIT: I can't find the entry in the log I've posted on page one. Where do I find this? Again, thanks for any helpful reply!

No, you must activate first shaders and then check the log if you read somewhere "R_LoadShader".

With Muton's 27972 package (http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=2830.375 - reply #382) this problem has been fixed. Or maybe it's my new hardware. This is one thing to keep in mind --- there might be UFO: AI fans out there who still have this problem due to old hardware.

My old PC's specs:

CPU: P4, 2.4Ghz
Video: GeForce 7300 GT
RAM: 2Gb DDR
Motherboard: Asus P4VP-MX

Except for the motherboard drivers and the new video card drivers, I've installed the same codec packages on my new machine.
