You played the game ?
You loved it ?
You felt the urge to give something back ?
You happen to have a decent knowledge of C/C++ ? (Or some other skill, see below)
You detected some flaw and thought "I could do that somewhat better" ?
You glanced at the code, but didn't find the 'entry point', so you gave up ?

Here comes the solution to your problem:
The dev team is currently considering to set up a 'newbie coders forum'.
See this thread http://ufoai.ninex.info/forum/index.php?topic=3915.0

If the concept works, the dev team might also extend it to artists, mappers, game designers, ...

So if you feel perfectly described by the above scenario, please sign up here so we can guess how many people might be involved.

Perfectly described...I started playing with the code but found it wasn't much fund to fumble around in the dark and not be able to accomplish anything.  Great idea...

Funny, I tried the same thing, and had the same result a few months back.

BTW, is there an API documentation somewhere of the modified graphics engine?

@rathor:
What was it that you wanted to achieve back then ?
You were the first to sign up, so feel free to post the topic in the newbie forum.

I wanted to try and play the 2.3 version more so I thought I would see if could fix the path finding bugs....probably a really bad place to start.
