That would be interesting. How can the licensing be incompatible? The accounts and platform are free, and they offer free stuff themselves, if under different licenses. As things stand, who's to stop Steam/Valve from taking UFO:AI stuff and just making the game themselves?

BTAxis:
I think you're not using the word "free" in the same way it is used when describing free software.

Ildamos:
Good pt Geever. Still the question remains; when 2.3 comes out, this game should be on Gamespot.

@Shegeven: I don't know who to mail it to. Anyway, I haven't tried searching deeply for their "Contact us" link.

Im afraid it wont be reviewed.

These people have bunch of games to review, and if someone is gonna pick this up, here is what is going to happen:
The reviewer start up game, on very easy level.
Will Lose his first helicopter thingy to UFO, start again try two copters maybe... still die and quit...

MAYBE, he is an old X-COM fan and will try bit more and actually get to battlescape, then lose his first firebird cause to random passing UFO and quit then. Or if he hasnt some new game coming up soon, will try to figure out how make copters escort the firebird.

Find out that you actually cant do that and then either just quit, or quit and give a really bad score.

Seriously, you guys have done most awesome job for opensource free game - from what i have seen this project is furthest along of any i have seen. But if you want more people to play this, you need to get rid of any frustrations from at least first hour of gameplay like losing the copters or worse the troop carrier you spent half an hour equipping and hiring people for.

I understand one copter shouldnt actually be able to shoot down an hi-tech alien UFO (even a very small one)... but then you should get rid of the copters alltogether. Or give clear indication in beginning that you need to build more of these (also give more hangar space in that case). Also, some combat screen would be nice - currently is just like "BANG, lost your copters" - you dont even know if it had a chance of winning if better equipped or not.

Or the very least, make "very easy" mode UFO's more weak - currently it seems difficulty setting doesnt do anything for air combat...

Destructavator:
When 2.3 comes out it'll have a skirmish mode for a quick battle, to quickly see how the battlescape works.

Also, "helicopter"?  I don't remember seeing any helicopters in the game - are you talking about the right project?

I've tested the development version enough times that on the easier levels the initial interceptor can defeat the first UFO by itself plenty of times, it doesn't always lose, many times it wins and shoots it down.

(Are you in the right place, not confusing this project with one of the other re-makes/inspired-by-projects?)

Edit: Regardless, I wouldn't try submitting this project for a review anywhere until 2.3 comes out, which will still take some time...
