CPU Load
« on: May 06, 2009, 04:45:34 pm »
Mouse would 'lag' during battles that makes scrolling the screen and selecting stuff a real challenge. It sometimes happens at the equip soldiers screen in base but not always. I doubt my specs are below minimum - I can run other 3D games without issue (Rome Total War, Warhammer 40k etc). Ran UFO:AI in windowed mode to check taskmanager and CPU usage was fixed at 100% without end. FPS in-game is 50-60 both when the mouse lags and when it doesn't. If that means anything.

I love this game. Thanks for making it. Can't wait for 2.3

I am having a similar problem, with huge mouse lag whenever in battle or playing in fullscreen mode.

I have close to the same specs, except I'm using a Mobile IntelĀ® 915GM/GMS graphics chipset.

I can play UT2004, half life 2: ep1 and C&C generals, so my comp should be able to handle these 3D graphics.

edit: with regard to cpu load, it hovers between 80 to 100 in battles (even on a small map) but instantly goes down to around 7% if I go into the options menu. Same thing happens in version 2.2

Just tested here with 2.3 trunk and a much stronger machine.

CPU load varies here between 1 and 7%, depending on how many visible aliens are on the screen.
That is, max zoom out and the right spot on the screen gives highest cpu.
Doing the opposite should help you a bit.

Don't know if 2.2.1 behaves the same, though.
