Game doesn't start

Hey!

When i start the game from programs/ufo alien invasion the screen goes straight to fullscreen mode, apperas black for some time and then throws me back to my desktop. The only thing i saw is that this error comes while initializing the game.

- couldn't execute config.cfg

I already tryed every solution posted in this forum. Any ideas?

OS: XP Prof. SP3
Graphic: ATI RADEON X800 Pro
Using: UFOAI Developer's Built 2.3 R23824 / R23827

Same problem appears using the stable release.

I don't know what solutions can be found on the forum but:

Could you/did you check: \Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\UFOAI\<version>\base\config.cfg ?

(replace <tokens>)

Try to rename it (so the game creates a new one).

base\config.cfg doesn't exist after installing the game. Theres just one empty file named ufoconsole.log.

After initializing the game no config, keys, etc. is being created. The Folder is still empty, except ufoconsole.log.

Good morning (here +8GMT in singapore). Do this for us pls.
1) Uninstall your game.
2) Ensure you are administrator.
3) Just in case, make sure you do not have disk quota limitations.
4) Try to install this to a different directory, say C:\Games\UFOAI.
5) Try again to startup.

PS: Reinstall using a stable 2.2 version and see if it works. If it does, move on to a developer's build. If all fails, then post here again. If it works, post also .

I got the game started and running by first running in windowed safe mode which allowed the game to create the config files that were missing from the initial install. I then just quit the game and started it up normally and all is well.
