Mission dissapearing

Alright, whenever I get a new mission, I save before I launch my dropship, incase things dont go well on auto.
But the issue is that if the game crashes, or I load, the mission is gone. If its a downed alien ship, then it causes the game to crash. Sometimes with an error message, sometimes not.
