Swedish translation
« on: March 08, 2009, 01:18:32 am »
I started this thread so we can discuss certain standard translations like military ranks, ammo-names, quasi-scientific-jibberish and other things that might pop up.

I will post some standard translations here:
Atlantic Operations Command - Kommandocentralen för Atlantiska Operationer

I will start of with some ammo. I can't find any military abbreviations in Swedish so I was wondering if one should just do our own obvious abbreviations or use the long nice explanatory words.

AP - Armour Piercing - (Pansarbrytande) -P
APHE - Armour Piercing High Explosive - (Pansar/spräng) -PS
API - Armour Piercing Incendiary - (Pansarbrand) - PB
HE - High Explosive - (Splitter)
HEI - High Explosive Incendiary - (Spräng/brand)
HE(M)/HC - High Explosive Mine/High Capacity - (Spräng)
PFHE - Pre-Fragmented High Explosive - (Förfragmenterad splitter)
SAP(HE) - Semi Armour Piercing (High Explosive) - (Halvpansar/spräng)
SAPI - Semi Armour Piercing Incendiary - (Halvpansar/brand)
SAPHEI - Semi Armour Piercing High Explosive Incendiary - (Halvpansar/spräng/brand)

Have you had a lok at soldf.com it has a lot of information pertaining the swedish military and it's equipment, if there exists an abbreviation for a specific ammo type you should be able to find it there.
In any case, if you need any help just pm me.
