Model for geoscape for corrupter
« on: December 18, 2008, 06:57:03 pm »
Hi all,

At the moment, we can't incorporate Corrupter UFO in game because the model we have has too many vertices (it has more than 4096 vertices).

Could someone work on the model we already have to reduce the number of vertices?

Here is the source file (well, I think it's the good one as I can't open .obj file):
http://ufo.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ufoai/ufoai/data_source/models/geoscape/ufo_corrupter.obj?view=log

Thank you

It's now 2700 poly's

Here the link :

http://www.md2.sitters-electronics.nl/models/ufo_corrupter.rar

If you want have it converted to MD2 let me know.

Willem

Edit : I put the md2 also in the file, look if you can use it.

There are a lot of double panels in the model it can be an problem with the engine ( does not know what render first ). , is it made with brushes ?

It probably was. I think the Corrupter was originally converted to a model from a map template. The same will probably happen with the Bomber.

maybe it would be better to redo the model but keep the shape as is?

Thank you a lot sitter :)
Unfortunately,  I didn't manage to use the model with the texture we have:
http://ufo.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ufoai/ufoai/trunk/base/models/geoscape/ufo_corrupter.tga?view=log

(and this texture doesn't look finished btw).

Maybe you can improve / remake it, as mattn suggested?

I download the texture and the model looks like this in my md2 viewer
The UV map is still OK.

I don't know if you override the Dir structure in the model where to find the texture, if not I make the model without Dir structure and with only the texture name

But I can also make an new model if you like, but must know more information about the interieur, because you can walk in the model.

sitters - are you still planning to create a new model for this?

btw. the uploaded model is really correct? ;)

the skinpath is some binary chars - so maybe the internal offsets are broken?

No the model is not correct, lot of double triangles.
I make a new model for it, but first I finish the raptor.

Can take some time, very busy in real life now.

I have here a simple model for the corrupter.
It's only 780 triangles, if you can use it I texture it.

OK, here the textured one, 720 poly's

Only detail on the above side, same like the example I have.
