Does anyone know what this graphical problem means?

BTAxis:
If you feel like going to the trouble, try the 2.3 dev version, see if you still get the same issue.

That said, Intel cards tend to cause problems.

nixiepixel:
I would, except the repository isn't working for me, so I had to d/l it from sourceforge.net...

I have an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100.  Do you have any idea what I need to do to resolve this?

There is currently a bug with intel's graphics drivers. It affects both 2d and 3d rendering. There are some fixes for ubuntu detailed here :

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/252094

The only way around this problem is to have the absolute latest drivers for your intel card. The easiest solution for this on Ubuntu is to add the xorg git ppa to your sources.list (you need the jaunty repo, the intrepid one still has the broken intel drivers) :

--- Code: ---deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ubuntu jaunty main
deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/xorg-edgers/ubuntu jaunty main
--- End code ---

Once you get things up and running they are moderately stable (speaking from experience with the same gfx card as you), but they are a hassle to keep up to date and will periodically break things. When you say that the repository isn't working, do you mean the ubuntu repository? What are the contents of your /etc/apt/sources.list file?

I-Broke-It:
;D  Thanks Spyro it works like a charm.

I loaded it in System>Administration>Software sources

Then I ran the update manager. After a restart everything is working.

Thanks Again.

nixiepixel:
Spyro, thank you very much!  It worked very well, and now I can play!

The only issue I face at the moment is that the mouse cursor feels very laggy to me...any idea why that might be?  Is it like Windows where if the game is playing in a window rather than full screen it will take up more resources?  (If so, can I force full screen somehow?)

Thanks!

~Nix
