Little experiment for cinematic - air combat

I've still been working now and then on getting better with Blender 3D, using it to render cinematics in combination with my video editing software - I'm very close now to a cinematic of air combat, which could potentially be used during the progression of the plot and/or the introduction I started previously.
This is an experiment with a cloud-maker script, the clouds in this video clip were rendered with mostly default settings. Once I add some ground terrain below the clouds and clean it up a bit, I think I could easily insert existing models of human and alien craft into the render.
I've also played with various downloadable terrain generators out there, Terragen 2 really impressed me (photo-realistic graphics) but the free version of it only does still images/frames one at a time, no animations, and a single image in Terragen 2 takes 20 min. to render on my system. Considering RoQ clips run at 30 frames per second, it would take roughly 8 hours of work to make one second of video, a shame since Terragen 2 makes absolutely beautiful graphics. Terragen 2 also is several hundred dollars for a full version.
Blender, on the other hand, made this in 15 min. (the whole thing).
Again, with some work I could probably get this to look a little less ugly and digital-ish for in-game cinematics, I'm still working on it.

Here, I think this one is a little bit better:

I'm still working on rendering engine thrust from aircraft, once I have that worked out I can put them in the clips. These clips, once completed, could also be good for the UFOPedia aircraft descriptions.

Here is the .blend source file if anyone wants to play with it, a license is included in text inside the file as comments.

I'm still working on the engine thrust in Blender to look a little less crappy, but I was thinking something like this clip might be good for the UFOPedia or another part of the game if more is added to it.
This clip shows the Saracen interceptor in flight. Comments?
ghosta:
The flight of the interceptor looks quite good, but the clouds look a bit strange.
