intro_sentence1.txt?!?

Well  am working on Debian and I just installed Ufoai.First I have to say that it's a really very good game.But there is a problem:In the start it says intro_sentence1 and i the game all ufopedia is full of bolterrifle_pre_txt, laser_pre_txt, etc.Do someone know why and how I can fix it?!?It may not be a fatal problem, I mean I can play the game, but I would like to read the ufopedia and the story, as I did in alla games(civilization, alpha centaury etc)

try to set game language in options
intro_sentence1 is a short placeholder, there should be content for every language

Well there wasn't even the choice of language...I installed the 2.3 and I still have the problem..

did you do "make lang"? This is needed for language files.

I assume that you checked out SVN trunk version.
"make lang" should be done in the main project directory, where configure is located.

You could also check this wiki page for another description how to compile language files.

I've got the same problem... What are you supposed to do if you DIDN'T compile from the sources? I installed from the package repository and I have no idea at all what's wrong. I can't select a language and every description is just a placeholder.

The wiki says something about using gettext for whatever reason, but it doesn't say what I am supposed to do or even why I should do so. I even already HAD gettext installed, so how can I fix this?

[Edit]: Nevermind. I still have no idea what was wrong, but compiling the game myself seems to have fixed the problem.

If you got an installer, then the installer was just bad. It really should work out of the box.

As I said, my problem is gone now, but since it could help with debugging I'll clarify what I meant. I'm currently running Kubuntu Hardy and installed via apt, using the package repository provided on the project homepage. There isn't much you can do wrong with that, so I can't tell you why it didn't work, but I had the same problem as the thread starter, that is, only placeholders in lieu of the actual descriptions.

It might be that the paths in the .deb are broken or something didn't register correctly, so I'm giving you a list of all installed files and their respective locations. Please look at the following list for more information. I hope this is helpful.
