Windows Dedicated Server
« on: September 09, 2008, 09:05:19 pm »
I was wanting to run a windows vista business 32bit machine as a dedicated server however had some trouble.

I downloaded 2.2.1 on to the machine, which already has the pk3 files included. When trying to run the UFO_ded the console came up but went not responding almost instantly. I have also tried using WinXP compatibility mode.

I have also opened the Quake2 server port on my router even though i think the FAQ said only older versions need that.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Much appreciated.

The Windows dedicated server is broken in 2.2.1. It's fixed for 2.3-dev.

Ah well that would explain that then :)
Are the compiled versions in the sticky thread for binaries (top of this forum) all stable?
I will give one a go.

BTW really glad I found this site, game is awesome. I used to spend SOO much time on XCOM :)
Although me playing this is driving the wife crazy!
