2.3 dev feedback

(1/1)

runegui:
hi all. I just installed and played for a few hours the 2.3 dev version. first of all, I think the version i took from a link presented in this forum may be outdated, 'cause the textures on most 3D objects (weapons, soldiers etc) aren't showing properly, making the whole stuff plain ugly. I ignored that and played nonetheless, but was halted by serious crashes when entering all snow covered maps. Since my principal bases are located in siberia and groenland, i called it a day.

What i wanted to know is : are these issues related to my version of the file ? (file : ufoai-2.3-dev-win32) Is it worthwile for you and me to report exactly what bugs I encountered or have they been fixed long ago ? If the topic is not relevant, feel free to dispose of it.

Otherwise, the game experience is pretty much the same as in 2.2 but i found the new features on the geoscape just great. Interception got a lot funnier too ! The UT consumption is still imbalanced between movement and gunshots, making it impossible to cover medium distances between buildings and keep a few units to backfire at enemies, but it's just my personnal opinion. Otherwise the new dynamic lightings (rockets...) are great. I loved the new alien dissection pictures too.

Even if i couldn't play much on this dev version, i think the game is heading toward excellency as it goes. Keep up the good work !

hi.

For texture problem: try playing with video options. Texture compression can solve this problem, AFAIR.

Version: Where you have downloaded it? The latest dev builds can be found here, on forum, If you wanna test the very latest versions check out the source from our svn, and compile, see: http://ufoai.ninex.info/wiki/index.php/Coding#Compiling_the_source

runegui:
uggh ... tortoise svn needs a service pack to install... is there a recent compiled ufo file available somewhere on the forum ?
