@Muton: Any chance you can fix the reaction fire in future compilations?

Anybody?

I am a little confused: which version should i download? The last stable releae (that anyone can find on "dowload" page) or the last releases here, in this topic??

Thanks!

The last stable release version for windows is on the download page. But the team is working towards a 2.3.1 release that will fix bugs. What Muton and others post in this thread are snapshots of the progress towards 2.3.1. If you want to get the latest bug fixes, you can download what's in this thread, but you never know when the last fix will introduce new bugs that haven't been noticed yet, so the 2.3 on the download page is considered more stable.

Ok thanks! Just one more question: why are you guys doing the 2.4 version? Or: if you are doing version 2.4, why fix the 2.3? In fact i am confused why still developing 2 versions.

2.3.1 will be only a bugfix release, no new feature will be included. 2.4 is planned to be released next year, we wanna provide bugfixes for 2.3 earlier.

I have a self-extracting installer for 2.4-dev-32055-Debug, optimised for a Core2 Duo, built using Configure 0.9.0, and compiled with the following settings:

L1 line=64
L1 size=32
L2 size=3072
SSE=4.1

Is it worth uploading?

i don't think so - it's quite old - we are no longer using svn, but git - the svn does not get any new revisions.

Granted, however it does seem to be pretty stable even with the GFX options maxed out, and I get a wide variety of maps on missions from the very outset, if starting a new campaign.

There's been a new dev build made available for 2.3 at least once a month for ages, and just wondered when you're going to start doing the same so you can build up an audience for testing 2.4.

Ideally we need a sticky thread explaining what's in 2.4 ALREADY that's not going to be in 2.3.1 when it arrives, so people who want to help on 2.4 but don't have any programming experience, can start doing so simply by testing what's already been implemented, and anyone who just wants a playable game can wait for 2.3.1.

I've managed to get the game running and put together now, I hope to upload a new, full installer as it has really been a while.  It will be for the 2.4 development branch, from a recent GIT snapshot (master).

OK, I've got it built, I'm now uploading.

It will take ~9 hours or so from now.

http://www.destructavator.com/92dl/ufoai/ufoai_2_4_dev_win32.exe

DEBUG.

I apologize for not having a revision number, but this is only about a day old from this post.

This revision seems to run OK on my computer, but I didn't test the installer.

Yeah, you've got a point - If any release deserves a bug-fix version before the next major one, it would be 2.3, considering how things went when 2.3 first came out.

I'll see if I can put together an installer for the 2.3 branch, if I can make the time later.

We should probably have more than one thread in this "Windows" section of the forum, to keep the installers separate.  (One for "Win32 2.3.x binary installers," one for "Win32 2.4.x binary installers," etc.)  Unless anyone has any objections, I'll probably do this when I manage to get a 2.3 installer ready.
