Not sure if this is a bug or just an undocumented feature ;)

I downloaded the build you posted (UFO 2.3 Developer's Edition R23665 (With Complete Maps Rebuilt)) and it opens in windowed mode ... which makes it difficult to scroll around the screen, so I switched it to full-screen (I didn't fiddle with anything else, honest!). The geoscape works perfectly, but my first mission (Map +farm in Athens) the game opens the loading screen and then freezes (I waited 5 minutes and no dice).

I then went into the mission in windowed mode and accessed options to switch to full-screen while in tactical mode. The game freezes again when I try to go back to tactical from options.

I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, Core Duo 3Ghz, 8 gigs Ram, NVideo GeForce 8600 GTS.

Anything else you need to know? Anything else I should be doing when posting potential bug reports?

Hi Frungy,

Just wanna let u know that i am not one of the developers. :) I am like yourself, one of the fanatics of UFO-like game. :P

But let me see if i can help based on experience. You mentioned that u r running on Home premium 32bit. Its different from my OS, (which is XP pro SP3 and my home's XP Home SP3).

U mentioned that u have no problem starting it up in windowed mode and it seemed laggy?? Not too sure, i am always in full screen mode on my lappy (aka laptop). Let me try this when i am back home and see if its same too..... my full screen mode seemed alrite yesterday (though i was really too tired from class and work to play much. :P)

I seemed to have no problem so far too with startup, but as for mission, i have not got to map u r on.... let me see if i can crash a mission with a farmland ok?

For your query on bug submission, i believe there is a wiki write up on this here.
In short, post bug submission at the tracker (which means u probably have to have a sourceforge account (which u can apply for free), provide as much details of ur system, the revision of the dev ufoai, and backtrace / screenshots and even savegames if possible.

*Edit*
Oh yes, u mentioned that u cant enter the mission rite? Usually, missions are refreshed every new day or 6 hrs something like that. Do u have a savegame before that and try to see if other missions are the same?

If u do not have a savegame before, try starting a new game and speeding things so that u get a mission fast, see if that mission is enter-able...... :P

If u can, possibly that particular map has to be troubleshooted. maybe uploading ur savegame here for the pros (the developers) might help. Else, just post a bug report.......

:D
Welcome onboard! Cheers!

Awww.....

Does anyone hear of this already??
Filefront is closing down from 30th March....

It has suspended uploading already.....

Anyone else has a suggestion for alternate file hosting location???
Yahoo Briefcase is too small and is closing down too.
Mediafire takes onli 100MB max.
Filefactory is 300MB max.
I cant do it thru yousendit.....

I am trying Yourfilelink
Do you think its good sharing? Let me know.....

Hosting Review gives me some more choices, was wondering if anyone here used any of those and found 1 to be good.....let me know ok?

How big is the binary? [you can always split it via zip or rar]

Canuck77:
It's ~550MB or so.

Personal preference: Please try not to use Rapidshare or any other 100MB max service with split RARs. Most of those services have really annoying "you can only download 100MB in X minutes" restrictions, so you need to download a file, wait 45 minutes, then download the next, then wait 45 minutes... I'd really much rather have slow download times and let it go for hours at a time, rather than do this.

BitTorrent might be an alternative. It has a drawback in that it means you would need to leave the computer turned on to seed, but you could just create the torrent and forget it for a day or so. Once a couple of people are seeding it, you can step back and leave the computer off whenever would be required.... though this option might be a little bit harder to manage in terms of outdated versions, etc...
