Building-Tree
« on: June 16, 2008, 02:31:58 am »
Hi guys,

I guess it would make a couple of things easier to understand, if there were a "building tree".
I build a missle battery, but had no stores - its useless without...

Thus it d be convenient, if there were restrictions to buildings.
Meaning: I cant build a missle battery until i have got a store.

There is already a values "needs" - maybe you can just extend this.

Cheers

That's not a good idea, because that would mean you'd have to wait until your storage was finished before you could build the missile battery. That needlessly prolongs the construction of a working base.

Well, I see the point.
A mention in the "needs" would still be useful.

Some feedback that the missle battery is empty after building would be nice too - thats not clear (to a xcom-veteran). And maybe a direct possiblity to buy the rockets in the menu of the missle battery (same for aircraft-equipment).

Best regards

It's definitely something to keep in mind during the interface redesign.

Maybe wiki or in-game help could point out these dependencies more prominently or something

Are they actually usable yet? (and if yet, as of trunk or as of 2.2.1?)

Oh, then I must have been doing something wrong...

so you need to
- have the building in your base
- buy or produce that rocket launcher
- buy or produce some missiles

Anything else? As soon as I have fulfilled these three points, the option should become available if I select an ufo close enough to my base?

I don't remember exactly if base defence changed between 2.2.1 and trunk, but you shouldn't need to buy missiles (basically, you shouldn't be able to buy missiles).
Once you bought a missile launcher, you must equip your base defence system with it (like for aircraft weapon) in the base defence menu.

If missile launcher is properly set, you should be able to select the base in the right part of the intercept popup, showed when you click on a UFO on geoscape.

Thanks - I wasn't aware I could click on the building to open its corresponding menu where I have to assign the rocket launcher.
