Mouse lag during tactical missions
« on: May 18, 2008, 08:39:24 am »
I must admit that this game has truly developed in the spirit of X-COM, and have been truly enjoying it, especially the wealth of background material which has been prepared in the UFOpedia.

Unfortunately, I have been encountering an issue which remains in spite of all my efforts.

Although the mouse moves at a normal speed at the menu and geosphere, with hardly any differences from its usual operation on the desktop, this changes as soon as I enter a tactical mission. It immediately begins to lag.

It seems to be isolated only to the mouse, as commands from the keyboard are executed immediately. I also noted that going to the options menu (while in tactical combat) removes the lag experienced -- but this returns if I attempt to change the video settings from there.

This has persisted, even though I opened the task manager to ensure that its process was given a High priority, and also brought down the video and music settings to the lowest possible settings.

My question is: can I do anything about this, or should I await a future release?

System stats:
Windows Vista Home Premium (32-bit)
Processor: Intel Core2 CPU 1.86GHz
RAM: 2 GB
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS
UFO:AI version used: 2.2.1 windows .exe

I have the exact same problem..only, i'm an ATI user :/

2.5GHZ Celeron
1.2GB Ram
256MB Ati Radeon x1300

How do I fix it?

On another note...shouldn't i get more than 15 fps in mission mode?

this is not as helpful as you might like.

it is probably something to do with you graphics card (or maybe vista). fiddle with the settings. if you work it out, be sure to write it up on the wiki FAQ.

I assume you have already switched off the aero theme.

I have the latest ati drivers, its just, there isn't anything really on my card that could effect the game..i think, all hardware options like aa and ansi are all off, and so is the pixel what ever its called. I am not sure there is a vsync option, also, it was most laggy near the transport.

also, 15 fps????? i should be getting a good mean 60 fps...

closer look at my stats:
