Did I reach the "end" of 2.2?

I just completed the supply ship/spreading infection mission.  Once I killed all the aliens and got the normal mission end screen, I clicked continue and am back at the strategic map.

From comments I've read my understanding is that this is the end of the content in the game so far and that I was lucky the game let me continue.

So is this it?  What will happen now?
