« on: June 15, 2008, 11:53:12 pm »
Hi guys, great game. I hope it gets finished someday. Anyway, I spent my sunday training a little bit on drawing faces and here is what i came up with. If youre interested, i can make many many more faces for you to use in your game. Contact me via email to get the source files.

And if you find this idea interesting, strike a pose, take a headshot and send me the photo, and ill put you right in. The first guy in IndexA by the way is me, and the other person with a star, is my wife.

Makes a grand total of 29 faces and around 7-8h of pleasant work. If a genuine interest exists, contact me and ill provide you with another 50-60, or perhaps more.

if you can do faces in a none-comic look but as a texture for our model heads... that would be great, see the character skin thread in the artwork subforum for more info.

You know, 3D leaves too little room for imagination and emotions. Ive tested this game, and its great. The problem is -according to me- that the game lacks emotions, the game feels sterile. 2D art can make up for that lack of emotions. Im not saying that everything 3D should be replaced, but im strongly in favor of replacing the face representation of the soldiers with 2D art.  My idea would be to modify these faces, make them look less cartoonish and in a second step, let you implement them in a random manner at the start of the game... as names are randomized to each model. I also feel that the faces of the soldiers and scientists should be visible when one wants to hire them. If youre interested in this first step, let me know.

Pretty interesting football game, isnt it? Germany is soo unlucky...

Here is a quick look at what i mean

We do need more 2D art, too. I think that is still too cartoony. (sorry)

Much too cartoony, doesn't remotely fit in with the rest of the game. If we wanted 2d portraits we'd go for realistic and gritty, which this really isn't.
