Is 2.2 version harder than 2.1?

Aliens are easily killing my men on harder difficulties.

I noticed combat gets harder with every version, which is a compliment to the guys programming the AI.  I found the key is to let them come to you, and never leave your guys in the open.  You have to have the initiative.  Hide your guys, with multiple reaction shots available, and group them, so they can cover each other.
