Soldier and gameplay questions

Hi, I couldn't find any info on when my soldiers will get promotions. Is it based on kills or missions? Does rank affect a soldier's stats?

Also, is it possible to um... manually tweak or edit my existing soldier's stats? I was wondering if I could re-order certain kill count to a certain model to a certain set of stats.

And lastly, the research tree on the wiki is more or less complete right?

It is currently based on kils, yes. But that will change in the future.

What do you mean by "complete"?

By that I meant whether that's all there is to currently research in the game :) I just want to balance out how many labs I need to build - I think I'm building way too much :D

In fact, the wiki contains MORE than there is to research in the game, since UFO Theory didn't make it into 2.2. There will also be many more articles in future versions, but they are not on the wiki yet, mostly because quite many of them haven't been written yet.
