No sound in SVN 13388
« on: December 06, 2007, 05:12:34 pm »
I've update my old 9736 SVN version to a new one, 13388. It's a big pleasure to see many new features, but I have no sound at all!
Yes, I have not a last version of SDL_mixer and timidity++, but anyway. I have Fedora 8, and I can hear sounds in media players and other. So, problem is not in my system.
Just to be 100%-sure, tomorrow I'll try to install last version of SDL_mixer and timidity++, recompile UFO:AI and report my results.

And about choosing a language at startup. In my case (1024x768), no fullscreen, I just CAN'T choose English language just because it's in a bottom of a list, and it's not seen on my resolution!
I think choosing English language by default is a correct way. 8-)

we are selecting system language per default

i really see no reason why sound is not working... it should really work from our side (like it did for all of our previous testers ;) )

Yes, but there is no sign at all about which language is selected right now. I've try to choose an English, but can't.
Well... if you think it's ok, may be it is...

Recently (on 9736 SVN version) there was a number of different sound systems to play sound through. And all of them (more or less) are played on my system...
 In .ufoai/2.3-dev.s/base/ufoconsole.log I have:
Code: [Select]
------- sound initialization -------
SDL_mixer version: 1.2.7
...audio rate: 44100
...audio channels: 2
...driver: 'alsa'
Right now it's only ALSA, as I can see. So, I have no sounds at all.

And on exit UFO:AI hangs deadly. I have to kill process with it. May be it's because of sound.

It seems I've found a source of problem. It's in my system.
I've compile "Battle for Wesnoth", and there are no sounds in it either.
It seems quite strange, amarok and audacious are playing music, but games are not playing sounds at all.

Problem is solved after removing two RPMs -- alsa-plugins-pulseaudio and kde-settings-pulseaudio.
 Now I have sounds. 8)
And last one question. Is it planning to return to Manuel Marino's Main Theme?
