SOUND_TROUBLE
« on: August 25, 2007, 11:13:43 pm »
Hi There

After some digging in the ubuntu forums I got sound, but it is terrible :(
there is a horrible fluttering sound, like it keeps turning on and of real fast.

I got sound by turning on PCM (and turning up the PCM volume in the sound controlls.

does anyone get the same, and more inportant what can I do to solve this.

Cheers Smitje

there are different sound renderers available - the alsa driver is just for low latency cards - use the sdl one

there are: alsa, arts, sdl and oss

you can choose them by starting ufo with ./ufo +set snd_ref sdl

controll your snd_khz cvar (change the values int he options->sounds menu) - the higher the value, the less the crackling

for me, i had to dawn khz to 11 to got clear sound (48 sounds really ugly), but it still be low (volume), but a correct level if my speakers are at max and max in the options... and i did anything else : i have edited the config.cfg file, the entrys "set snd...", especially the one which read sound like 8 bits.

Please forgive my bad English, i'm just french. I just hope you understood ;p
