Question about saves in future versions

Well with every new build i have to start over becouse old saves not work in new wersions. i had 9557 and now i downloaded 9960.

is it possible to do something to change this situation ??
like simple save updater?

i think this has been visited before.

if you play the svn version, then you are playtesting. if you just want to play, use an installer.

you could always revert your working copy, compile and keep using your savegame.

I think the problem is that there is an enormous amount of work to do, and savegame compatibility cannot be a high priority.

Actually, it's a rather prominent thing, as I understand it. With the memory dumps the savegames would break just about every revision. The new system was created in order to make that problem a thing of the past. Clearly it didn't succeed as much as hoped.

The new system's goal is to allow to load and use savegame from one release to another. Nothing more, nothing less. There were never a talk about savegame compatibility among trunk, between particular revisions.
