Inactivity MUST be punished!

It was started in X-COM. After that moment, when new mission mark is appearing, player have plenty much time to accomplish the mission.
Usually I immediately send ship there. When it arrives at point, I can Cancel starting operation and wait for daylight (if it's night here). Fighting at night more dangerous and harder.
So, you can easily wait for BEST TIME for YOU to start mission. WITHOUT ANY LOSSES. I think it's not fair.
What we have now? You can arrive at mision AFTER 24 hours and save 3 of 3 people. That's ridiculous.
In "real life" after some time you spend to arrive to mission, there MUST be human casualties.
Say, after 6 hours of waiting there can be one victim. And one more victim after every, say, 3 hours.
I think THIS can CORRECT the situation.
And dead bodies that was fault of your inactivity MUST be added to map near the SHIP. As a "reminder". 8-/
