Here's a polymer I whipped up in about an hour.

(The background isn't black, it's transparent. View the image itself if you're having trouble seeing the darker ones.)
I suppose it would be for things like Aircraft Polymers. Most polymers compose long chains that loop back in on themselves. Perhaps technology is advanced enough that they can actually be woven.

I followed a couple 'rules' I remember from Chem 209, but there's no way an actual molecule like this could exist.

It's not actually textured, I just coloured the materials. It should be easy to texture, anyways. Don't even have to leave Blender to do that.

Blend is here if you actually need it.

As a chemist, I'm getting nightmares looking at this ;-)
But for the game its quite a nice graphic. Maybe just a little too colourful.
And if you'd like to have it a bit more realistic, try constructing it with (condensed) aromatic rings in the backbone, like recent high-temperature/high-durability polymers have it (like nomex/kevlar).

Even with what I know of chemistry, I know that this thing's atrocious. :)

Aromatic rings are those circular ones, like benzene and that, right?

Well, apart from the fact that all rings are circular ;-) , yes.

Well, who knows what chemistry will lok like in - what was that again, 40 years?
Maybe we could call it Atrocex or so...
