Game not starting - Grey Screen

When I try to start the game I get a grey screen. There is no loading of the game, just a grey screen. The logfile is empty and I have no clue where to start.
I try to run from a laptop (compay armada m700) which has a ATI Rage Pro (Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2x 8MB) which should support OpenGL.

I am running the latest version of the game (2.1.1) on Windows XP (service pack 2) and my driver version for the ATI card is 5.10.2600.6010

Laptop specs are:
Compaq Armada M700
Intel Pentium 3 650MHz
448MB RAM
Rage Mobility P/M AGP 2x 8MB

install the official latest ati drivers

I have installed the latest ATi driver, still no change. Is there any way I see what is causing the problem?

I ahve done some more digging on my graphics card and it defenitely does support opengl.

My log file is empty and I  have read some post referring to the command line interface. Is this an in game interface? - if so how do you get it started?
