Cant research ammo for particle weapons

I'm sure this is a known bug, but it is still a problem:   I researched the particle weapons and are now manufacturing them, but I can't research their ammo, meaning I have a pile of particle cannon that are useless because I didn't recover any ammo in the last couple of missions and I can't make any of my own.

Are there plans to implement ammo research?

Did you read the Ufopaedia after researching the particle beam technology? It says that the ammo clip contains extremely high technology that is very hard to research. According to it, they might not be able to research it for a while so it wouldn't be a bug.
