we will keep both actions - as Zenerka said.

I am convinced that a 3d globle will bring much more "original" x-com feeling than a flat map. Have both options is indeed the best idea.

Are both currently implemented? I must have missed this setting somehow.

its in 2.1, but as i saw, the 3dmodel not really working

Yes, 3D is still work in progress.
