I have tried using the ufo2map.exe to try and compile CVS maps with no success. It gets to the Radiosity part and always seems to raise an exception that my graphics driver catches and can't handle so I get the windows blue screen of death.

Ok, I just tried that one and the same thing happened. I have done this with full and no hardware accelleration so I don't think it's that. I wonder if it's because my card is too old or maybe I just have to rebuild some component. Though, I have been able to take bsp files from 2.0-RC6 and put them into the maps directory of 2.1-dev1 and play the tactical missions through on those maps.
Oh, and the card is a Geforce4 MX440 128mb if that is relevant.

what is the exact error message? is it in the game? or from ufo2map?
how do you compile the maps? any ufo2map parameters?

TRAP_CAUSE_UNKNOWN is the error, but that is on the blue screen so I guess it's maybe from the windows kernel. I copied ufo2map.exe into the maps directory and used a cmd.exe window to run 'ufo2map.exe -bounce 0 -extra <mapname>' which is the command line shown in the wiki.
I just tried doing it with the trunk code and maps and it got a little bit further along, but still crashed windows.

Well, yesterday's build got to 4..., then today's got to 6..., so maybe some fixes to that code are making it more stable on my machine. Not sure yet, but I'll get further into that myself in the future if it remains a problem.
