No textures in Linux
ErebusTheTerror:
Hey all:
I have installed RC 4,5, and now 6, but this is the first for me. I run Debian, Unstable, and the games runs great! However, I do not get textures mapped to my models, only shiny models! The games runs fine, everything seems to work just no textures. I installed off of the Debian repo and everything seems fine. I am running the newest fglrx driver for my Mobility FireGL T2. runs fast....but...ummm...did I mention no textures? very odd! The same repo installs fine at home on my other desktop machine
Thanks!
Erebus
Mattn:
it would be nice if you could try the current trunk version (grab the mappack from mattn.ninex.info and compile the source yourself [if you need help, join irc]) and tell us please, whether this bug is still alive for you
best regards
martin
ErebusTheTerror:
Okay....
Sorry it took so long. I compiled the trunk from source, both the program AND the maps (whew, took forever!), and it runs great, but still NO textures. all the models are there, but no textures....
you mentioned to get the maps from the dev site, would i compile those differently? are they already compiled? if i wanted to use those in the future - how/where would i put them?

Mattn:
i'm sorry, but i've never encountered such bugs, are other 3d games (e.g. quake2 quake3) working fine?

they are compiled (but not always the most recent ones) and you should put them into your ufo:ai installalation folder in base/maps

other games run great:
AlienArena, GridWars 2, etc. I'll try quake to be sure....the engine is based on quake or quake2? Also, are there any major dependencies listed anywhere that might be an issue for this? for quake engine?
