Map Editor "How to" location?

Where should I go to get a bit of guidance in creating the Maps?

Also, if anyone has completed some samples, would be willing to share in this post for reference that the noobs (such as myself) can use?

Respectfully,

all maps are available with their source *.map files here:
http://ufoai.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ufoai/ufoai/trunk/base/maps

we have a tutorial section in our wiki:

Huh... little bit rough for a noobie to follow, but I am working on getting the gist of it.

Being imaginative, and putting it into the computer, not as easy as spreading peanut butter on thick soft bread, then slathering the other piece with some grape jelly, and then.... taking the time to enjoy each bite. ... working with the map editor takes a bit of getting used to. Its a utility... so I just need to practice....

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Respectfully,
