Slow UFO:AI under WIndows

Hi folks,
downloaded and installed ufoai-2.0-RC6 today under Windows XP - and tried to play... but it was no fun with only 4 fps.
Any suggestions what I can do to tune the game a little?

Make sure you have some sort of 3D acceleration, and if you do, try and update to the latest proprietry drivers (the ones that come by default with windows update may not work so well). So go to nvidia.com or ati.com and try their drivers is my recommendation. Let us know if this helps, or if you have already done this with no luck...

The update helped a little, I still have only about 10 fps in die Geoscape though.
At least I have about 15 fps in the tactical screen, so I can play the game.
