Hello, continuing the discussion on harbor map bugs.

I've included some more pictures to demonstrate the
problem. In some cases I've use the 'showall' hack to
make aliens visible that would otherwise be invisible.

There seems to be a common cause to all these (and
other) map visibility pictures: it seems that the water
is acting as a block for the vis.

This could either be a coding error, or a map error.

So .. my question to the map developer(s) is:

is there some kind of invisible 'wall' around the water
on the map? I can imagine this might be added to stop
the soldiers from walking onto the water.

If this is the case then we can either:
- change the vis code to ignore 'invisible' walls
- change the map to make the wall much 'lower'.

The first is probably the more correct solution.

You should even be able to shoot him!

there are player_clips around the ships. but i think, that
the main problem is this map is, that the height values for
each level are not the standard ones, a level doesn't begin
at 0, 64 or 128 but even on 56 (e.g.) that might also
produce problems with stepon areas.

Trunk revision 4602 fixes a relatively major error in the game... all playerclip regions were blocking visibility (tracing) along with dynamic lighting for some models.

I've tested the harbor map (which has walls of playerclip everywhere :P) and it seems to fix this visibility issue. It also fixes most other "blocking" visibility issues reported on other maps (sometimes it is still possible to spot an alien through a fence etc... I'm not sure what is causing that.. yet).

Marking this bug as fixed.
