Description
[http://sourceforge.net/p/ufoai/bugs/413 Item 413] imported from sourceforge.net tracker on 2013-01-28 18:21:29

After I kill all the aliens, there's some kind of
message and the battlescape turns black. This makes the
game stop working it says shutdown game.

I believe this is probably a result of the make system in
ufoai_2.0 is a bit broken at the moment (which can cause
some very strange behavior indeed!).

In fact, to ensure a clean build you currently have to do
some manual steps:
1. from ufoai_2.0/src do a "make clean && make"
2. copy the newly created files to the directory beneath the
src directory: i.e. "cp ufoded ufo2map ufo snd_sdl.so
snd_oss.so snd_arts.so snd_alsa.so ref_sdl.so ref_glx.so
game.so ../"
3. copy or move game.so to the "base" directory eg "cp
game.so ../base"

Then please re-test. Ideally the make file for 2.0 branch
needs to be fixed (or the autoconfig system in trunk ported
back to 2.0). Unfortuantely make related stuff is something
I'm not like to be able to fix easily (but perhaps another
dev might have some ideas).

thank for those tips casserite! The thing I was missing was
the game.so in ufoai_2.0/base was the old version not the
new one I had just compiled. I use a symlink to get the base
directory linked in the src/debugx86_64 and had forgotten
about the game.so, MY BAD!

Ok, I'm closing this bug as invalid, however the fault isn't
really yours, it is the broken make system in 2.0 branch
(indeed the make system in trunk was similarly broken in
trunk for a week or so prior to the full transition to
autoconf). I hope others aren't experiencing similarly bad
things ... I'm assuming very few people are actually testing
2.0 branch.

At the moment 2.0 branch is undergoing some rapid updates
(stability and some feature merges from trunk). Expect a few
more big changes over the next 24 to 48 hours as I merge the
remaining patches (and yes, your saved games are likely to
be broken already and are likely to break again over this
time-frame... sorry!). There may also be small bugs during
this transition (due to merging of patches that involved a
series of followup fixes).
