2.5 campaign undergoing changes

We're implementing some pretty broad changes to the campaign sequence for 2.5, which will eventually see changes to the timing of when you will see nearly all aliens, ufos and weapons. It will also involve some changes to the research tree.

You can see a sketch of the whole picture we're working towards here.

Some of these changes might lead to unbalanced or unstable gameplay in your 2.5 save. This thread will update you about any anticipated problems.

We have modified the alien team definitions. As a result, any save game that already had missions on the globe when it was loaded will not be able to find an alien team. When you try to enter the mission, it will disappear. All new missions should have no problems.

This change requires you to recompile the game or the faulty mission will never disappear.

We have added a new weights/encumbrance mechanism in the game that required increasing the starting strength stats for Phalanx soldiers. As a result, soldiers who were created in your savegame before this date will have very low strength and thus be unable to carry a normal equipment load.

At this time we have no mechanism to "fix" this imbalance. You will need to wait until new soldiers are created at the end of the month and transition to them or start a new campaign.
